Weigh-in: Week 1

Went to my first weigh-in today.  The scale showed slightly higher than I was hoping for, but I wasn't surprised by the number.  I weigh 128 lbs. more than Weight Watchers' height-weight chart lists as the healthy maximum for my height (based on BMI), and 149 lbs. more than my personal goal.  Definitely a lot of work to be done, then.

My first major goal is to lose 10% of my starting weight (standard WW), so I'll be working on that.

Beyond that, I'm hoping to drop 40 lbs. by the end of the calendar year.  We'll see.

Greetings Earthlings

Hi.

I'm very, very fat.  I don't know exactly what an optimal weight would be for me, but I need to lose close to half my body weight to obtain to a "normal" BMI for my height.  To that end, I am rejoining Weight Watchers, and I am going to try to introduce more physical activity to my daily life.

I've been fat for most of my 20-odd years, and have gotten fatter as time has passed.

Now I'm at the point where I am uncomfortable in my size 22 jeans, and had trouble fitting into a seat in a lecture hall (never mind getting the slide-out writing surface to lie flat over my leg).  I also feel more lethargic than I have at lower weights, hate the sight of myself in the mirror, have no social life to speak of, and can't see how I'll achieve my other, non-weight related life goals.

So, time to do something.

I'm hoping this blog will provide me with some additional accountability for my actions related to weight loss, as well as additional motivation.

My plan right now is to try to update this blog three times a week, on Saturdays (weigh-in days), Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
